What Is Patterson Design Co., Really?
There’s a moment every night—usually around 9:37 PM—when the house finally goes quiet. The dishwasher hums, the toys are picked up (ish), and the last “Dad, I need water!” has been negotiated.
That’s when Patterson Design Co. officially opens for business.
Hi. I’m Brett. I’m a graphic designer, dad of three boys, and founder of Patterson Design Co.—a little creative studio I’m building from my garage (and occasionally the RAM 1500, let’s be honest).
So what is this thing?
It’s not just a design studio.
Sure, I make logos, prints, shirts, and all the visual stuff. But really, Patterson Design Co. is about creating with meaning. I like things that last. Logos with personality. Prints that feel like home. Shirts you actually want to wear, not just to sleep in.
I’m not here to “disrupt” anything or “scale aggressively.”
I’m here to make cool things for good people—and grow something steady, honest, and maybe even a little inspiring.
It’s a one-man circus (for now).
Right now, it’s just me—designing after school pickups, nap times, and late at night. I don’t have a team or an intern or a trendy office with exposed brick. I have Adobe Illustrator, a pencil, and a deep, almost concerning relationship with Monster Energy.
And that’s fine by me.
Why “Patterson Design Co.”?
Because I wanted to build something bigger than my own name—something my kids could see grow. Something that might outlive me. And maybe even something they’d be proud to wear on a T-shirt someday (if I can convince them it’s cool).
What to expect here:
Honest design process and behind-the-scenes looks
New print drops and products as they launch
A few lessons I learn along the way (the hard way, probably)
Dumb jokes and dad thoughts
A lot of love for the West Coast, typography, and storytelling
So, welcome.
Thanks for being here—whether you’re a fellow designer, a small business owner, a print collector, or just someone who clicked around and thought, “Who is this guy and why is he talking about fonts like they’re people?”
This is the start of something.
It’s scrappy. It’s late-night built. But it’s mine.
And I’m really glad you found it.
